BANC OF AMERICA
S&P 500 SECTOR ANALYZER
The S&P 500 Analyzer is an interactive visualization of the 500 companies in the S&P 500. By default, the size of the circles represent the market cap of the companies in each bucket, and the color represents today’s stock price performance. Companies are sorted with the worst performing companies in the middle. Clicking on a sector triggers an animation where the industries within a sector are revealed. Clicking on an industry continues the theme by exposing the companies within an industry.
I created the visual design, developed an algorithm based on the Fibonacci sequence, and programmed the proof-of-concept in Flash. Originally designed for Quick & Reilly, it was a featured asset during the acquisition by Banc of America.
